We are working on a variety of research projects. Click on the links
to find out more about what we are doing right now:
Physics and chemistry of the
Earth's core. Quantum calculations are giving us
key information needed to deduce the temperature and composition
of the Earth's deep interior.
The CONQUEST project.
Novel techniques being developed in the VML are enhancing the power of
quantum calculations to probe atomic-scale matter.
Semiconductor nanostructures.
Density-functional theory is being used to study complex
semiconductor structures which may be used in the computers
of the future.
Towards chemical accuracy for surface science modelling
Atomistic modelling is crucial for understanding processes on surface,
but current methods are not accurate enough. We are developing new
methods that are expected to give much better accuracy.
