Virtual Matter Laboratory
Ph.D. Opportunities

We welcome enquiries from anyone interested in working for a Ph.D. in our group. We are doing research on a variety of problems, so there is a good chance that we could design a Ph.D. project that would suit your own particular talents and inclinations. Check out our summary of suggested Ph.D. projects.

Do you think you might be interested in atomic-scale devices that could form the basis for novel future computers? Then maybe a project on semiconductor nano-structures would suit you. Or perhaps you are more interested in the exciting science we are doing on the physics and chemistry of the Earth's core? Our work in this area recently hit the headlines, with interviews on Channel 4 News and the Today programme. Then again, you might be into the nitty-gritty of writing computer code for high-performance computers. In which case, our work on novel methods for quantum calculations on very large systems might be for you. Look at the suggested Ph.D. projects to find out more.

Whatever happens, you will want to come out of your Ph.D. with new skills that will stand you in good stead later on. With all our projects, we aim to help you achieve this.
