Ché's great miscellany

It has long been my goal to resist at all times the various arguments that one should lead an orderly life. To celebrate this resistance, I have decided that all aspects of my life which cannot be categorised as "Work," are to be categorised as "Miscellaneous," thus establishing myself as the exemplar of the filing clerk's nightmare. Here, therefore, the interested surfer may sift some vague picture of me from this collection of the detritus of my life.

Stop the War Coalition
A tremendously important group, organiser of the UK's largest ever political demonstration, the 15 February 2003 Stop the War march. Find out about upcoming events, and how the neo-cons want to spread this conflict. It's not over until we stop it. Date for your diary: 27th Sept 2003, Hyde Park, London. See STW site for details.

The Pugwash Conferences
A group concerned with scientific ethics and world affairs, it arose to discuss the threat posed to civilisation by the advent of thermonuclear weapons, and is now an important voice in scientific policy, with student groups active in many universities.

Bremner, Bird and Fortune:
Between Iraq and a hard place and Beyond Iraq and a hard place
Two great pieces of satire, these guys cut straight through the cr*p. The video from the wonderful Christmas special is still available, and you can find a transcript of the sequel, "Beyond Iraq and a hard place," along with "best of" clips from the series.

Project for the New American Century
Born in 1997, this neo-conservative think tank, containing many of the current US administration, was established to review US defence policy. Members include Jeb Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz to name but a few. In 2000 they produced the defence review, Rebuilding America's Defenses, in which The Project makes clear that its military intentions in Iraq "...transcend the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein."

Richard Stallman's Personal Page
The founder of the GNU project and the author of much of the best free software out there, including the classic Emacs, Richard Stallman is also an informed and outspoken political figure. Here he expresses his views on Israel, the war on Iraq, and American civil liberties. A profoundly informed campaigner, his views demand notice.
